Your First Burn: The Secret to a Long-Lasting Candle

A Ritual for Your Scent

Our candles are a whisper from the Earth, a breath of nature brought into your home. To honor this gift and ensure it burns purely, follow these simple rituals with each use.

The First Burn

The first time you light your candle is the most sacred. Allow it to burn for a minimum of 2-4 hours, until the entire surface of the wax has melted into a liquid pool. This creates a "memory" for the wax, guiding it to burn evenly and fully for the rest of its life. Blowing it out too soon will cause the candle to tunnel, leaving unburned wax along the edges like a forgotten shore.

Tips for a Perfect Burn Every Time

Trim the Wick

Before each and every burn, trim the wick to 1/4 inch. This is the key to preventing a sooty jar and a flickering, wild flame. If you notice a mushroom shape on the tip of your wick, it's a sign it needs to be trimmed.

Avoid Drafty Areas

Place your candle on a stable, heat-safe surface away from open windows, fans, or air vents. Drafts can cause the flame to flicker and produce soot, which stains the inside of the jar.

If You See Soot

Don't worry! If you notice soot building up, it's a sign that the wick is too long or the candle is in a draft. Simply extinguish the flame, let the candle cool completely, trim the wick to 1/4 inch, and then relight.

Burn Time

For the best experience, avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This prevents the wick from becoming unstable and the wax from overheating.

Seek  the shade

When not in use, store your candle away from direct sunlight. The sun's powerful rays can fade the natural color of the wax and diminish the fragrant essence held within.

By following these simple steps, you honor the life of your candle and ensure its fragrant essence fills your space, just as the Earth fills ours.
